In Diani, Kwale County, a 76-year-old Swiss woman, identified as Grossen Adelheid, was found deceased in her rental home at Watatu Watano area. According to the police, the cause of death was preliminarily determined to be cardiopulmonary arrest. A man, who claimed to be her boyfriend, was present at the scene when the incident occurred on June 4. A doctor was summoned to the residence to confirm the death, which was later transported to the mortuary for preservation. In a separate incident in Mbari ya Ireri village, Muranga County, a 38-year-old man named Peter Gacheru Gichohi drowned in a borehole on his property. The body was retrieved by local residents and taken to a nearby mortuary for further examination and investigations. In Nakuru, a woman’s body was discovered in Technology Farm, Kaptembwo. The farm manager reported that the body bore visible signs of strangulation and was subsequently moved to Nakuru County Annex mortuary for postmortem examination and identification. A 65-year-old man, Joseph Nyaga, ended his life by suicide in Kianjokoma, Embu County. His body was found hanging from a macadamia tree, and the motive behind his decision remains unknown. The police reported that there were four reported cases of suicide on June 4, with incidents also reported in Nyamira, Bomet, and Nyeri Counties. The police are currently investigating these cases. The trend of suicide cases in Kenya has been a cause for concern, with up to two cases reported daily. According to the World Health Organization, factors contributing to suicide include joblessness, death, academic failures, legal difficulties, financial difficulties, bullying, previous suicide attempts, family history of suicide, alcoholism, substance misuse, depression, and bipolar disorder.
