This action led to a legal dispute initiated by Fortnite developer Epic Games, who argued that the commission was unfair and accused Apple of operating the app store as a monopoly. Fortnite was inaccessible on app stores globally last week due to an update being allegedly blocked by Apple. In January 2021, the game resurfaced on the EU app store after a four-year absence, prompted by a law intended to boost competition. Google, which had removed Fortnite from its app store in 2020 due to similar payment rule infringements, lifted its ban on downloads in the previous year. Fortnite boasts a massive following with approximately 400 million registered players.
